Comparison
HeyGen vs Synthesia: two AI avatar platforms, two audiences
Both turn a script into a video with an AI presenter. HeyGen suits creators and marketing better: an avatar of you, translation of existing videos into 175+ languages, 4K export from Pro. Synthesia suits corporate training better: quizzes, branching scenarios, SCORM export to your LMS and compliance. Both start at $29 a month.
What they share, where they differ
HeyGen and Synthesia start from the same idea: you write a script and an AI avatar delivers it to camera with a synthetic voice. Both offer stock avatars, a personal avatar made from you, an agent that builds a video from a prompt, translation and an API.
HeyGen speaks first to creators, marketing and sales teams, and people who sell online courses. Its home page highlights an avatar that stays consistent and looks like you, lip-sync in 175+ languages and dialects, and translation of videos you already have, including from a YouTube link. Text, an image, audio or a PDF can be the starting point.
Synthesia speaks first to training, HR and internal comms teams. Its home page highlights quizzes, calls to action and branching scenarios inside the video, SCORM export to an LMS, viewing analytics, roleplay avatars that push back during practice, and certifications (SOC 2, ISO 42001, GDPR, SSO).

Pick HeyGen if…, pick Synthesia if…
The right choice depends less on avatar quality, which is close on both, than on where your video will be watched: on social media and in sales outreach, or inside a training path.
- HeyGen if you make social content, sales videos or courses you sell.
- HeyGen if you want to translate videos you already shot, with your lips in sync.
- HeyGen if you need 4K export or videos up to 30 minutes without an enterprise plan.
- Synthesia if your videos go into an LMS and must be exported as SCORM.
- Synthesia if you want quizzes, branching or roleplay inside the video.
- Synthesia if your procurement team requires SOC 2, ISO 42001 and SSO.
What if you need no avatar at all?
HeyGen and Synthesia are built for a presenter who explains. For an ad on TikTok, Reels or Shorts, a short story often works better than a person talking to camera. That is where adkix, the tool that publishes this page, comes in: you paste your website address, your Instagram handle or an idea, and adkix turns it into a narrated video ad of 15 s, 30 s or 1 min in 9:16, with no avatar and no shoot, in about 20 minutes.
You approve the angle, the style and the script before anything is produced. adkix then draws a consistent cast and locations, records the voice-over, films every shot with AI video models, adds music and word-by-word titles, and exports an MP4 ready to post. No presenter, no clone, no SCORM export: adkix does not replace HeyGen or Synthesia for training.
